REVIEW: SENSAI The Lipstick & Total Lip Gloss

SENSAI The Lipstick 07,09 and Total Lip Gloss

There’s nothing quite like a little bit of colour to brighten up one’s day and I love SENSAI ‘s latest Lipsticks & Total Lip Gloss; I had great fun wearing shade 07 and 09 and playing with SENSAI’s virtual makeup app: read more….

I am mostly a gloss and a smudge of colour kinda girl, but sometimes I absolutely love taking my time and doing a ‘real lip’ if you know what I mean, to make me feel fab.
Make no mistake, SENSAI The Lipstick have a hefty price tag (R975) and (R850) for the SENSAI Total Lip Gloss but the texture is lushly hydrating and has a superb finish. SENSAI The Lipsticks contain something called Silk Drape Technology, a powder complex containing silk to smooth lips for a sensuous and radiant appeal and has anti-ageing benefits too.

On the left: The Total Lip Gloss, 09 Nadeshiko Pink and 07 Shakunage Pink,

I love SENSAI Total Lip Gloss as it gives just enough pink fresh shine and best is there is no stickiness. You can layer it over a lipstick or wear alone; I tend to stick with the latter as I do love a gloss! Koishimaru silk and lip care complex hydrate the lips.

I made use of the SENSAI virtual makeup app (try it out here) which is such fun; upload an existing photo and play around or do a live version (I look like shite today so took a photo I had on file and applied the two shades I was sent).

FRAGRANCE FILE: CHANEL Chance Eau Tendre EDP

I’m completely obsessed with anything relating to CHANEL, so when the latest fragrance

landed in my hands I held on to the bottle oh so tight! CHANEL Chance Eau Tendre EDP fragrance is a gentle interpretation of the original and one I adore; read more here….

CHANEL CHANCE EAU TENDRE EDP

“It comes and goes, it never stays putโ€ฆ and you only have a few seconds to seize your chance. It is unpredictable and appears when you least expect it, but if you decide to seize it, anything is possible. “A chance came up, I seized it.” Mademoiselle Chanel knew that her real chance was the one of her own creation, a state of mind, a way of being”.

CHANEL CHANCE EAU TENDRE EDP

On first spray one can smell the citrus notes of grapefruit, before jasmine and rose essence waft through; the base note is white musk which balances the scent, creating a fruity flowery delightful composition.

CHANEL CHANCE EAU TENDRE EDP

This is a wonderful fresh fragrance suitable for everyday wear. I had the original CHANEL Chance Eau Tendre EDT when it came on the market a few years back , but this one is lovely indeed as it is more intense and lasts longer on your skin. Tres romantic, elegant and intoxicating. LOVE!!

I’ve worn CHANEL Chance Eau Tendre EDP everyday this past week as CHANEL has been on my mind, what with Karl Lagerfeld’s passing. As one of the most acclaimed fashion designers of the century, he will be sorely missed.

CHANEL Chance Eau Tendre EDP

50 ml for ZAR1615 and 100ml for ZAR2290.

Have you tried CHANEL Chance Eau Tendre EDP? What are your thoughts?

Hope it’s a good week up ahead

3 Unisex fragrances you’ll want to wear this summer: Les Eaux de Chanel

Les Eaux de Chanel: Venise, Biarritz and Deauville EDT

With summer here it’s definitely time to wear lighter perfumes and

CHANEL Les Eaux Collection are the perfect choice!

Inspired by travel destinations close to Gabrielle Chanelโ€™s heart, sees the launch of the Les Eau de Chanel Collection, a trio of fragrances that break away from her other fragrances, as these are light, airy and easy to wear both for men and women.

House perfumer Olivier Polge is the nose behind these and says This is a new sort of collection of perfumes, we call them Les Eaux because they’re fresh, fluid, sparkling. My source of inspiration came from Eau de cologne, those combinations of fresh citrus oils,’ says Polge. Each scent was inspired and named after a destination vitally important to Coco Chanel’s life: Venice, Biarritz, and the beach town Deauville where she opened her very first boutique in 1913. ‘The three cities are really important in the history of Chanel. They became a part of our identity and source of inspiration,’ he says.

CHANEL PARIS VENISE

Shocked at the untimely death of her beloved Boy Capel, Gabrielle’s friends whisked her off to Venice where she immersed herself in the rich and diverse culture and people. It is here she discovered Byzantine and Baroque art treasures that became her inspiration for her style and influences that are still reflected in the collections designed by Karl Lagerfeld today. Paris Venise interprets the captivating draw of the bustling city that marks the boundary between the East and West. Polge created a powdery oriental scent where the contrast of orange neroli is infused with warm Cedarwood and Amber accord. If you love vanilla as I do, you’ll adore this light version perfect for summer. I was sent CHANEL PARIS VENISE fragrance and body lotion to try out and wow, the body lotion is sensual and light on the skin and I feel like I’m on holiday, when in reality I am working right through!

CHANEL PARIS BIARRITZ

This is inspired by the dynamic energy and fresh air of the Biarritz coast capturing the spirit and freedom. CHANEL PARIS BIARRITZ is a vibrant with juicy Sicilian Mandarin and grapefruit in the top notes, with a heart of lily of the valley and Vetiver and white musk at the base.

CHANEL PARIS DEAUVILLE

Deauville is where Gabrielle opened her first CHANEL shop; the seaside resort was home to elegant women, the first to wear wide-brimmed hats and dresses inspired by a masculine wardrobe. Polge says, “Deauville is very close to Paris, it’s not only a city near the city of Paris but it’s in the middle of Normandy. And this is often a destination for weekends,” he says. “I had in mind the scents of what could be a weekend in the countryside. This is why I envisioned a scent that aside from those sparkling oils of orange, it has a more aromatic, green aspect with basil, leaves of the orange tree, geranium, and a touch of jasmine.” CHANEL PARIS DEAUVILLE sounds like heaven right?

All three fragrances are fresh and light and as I said earlier, the perfect choice for hot summer days…I’m packing up for the day and heading out to catch some sun and swim in the ocean – what are you up to on this second day of a new year?

Why did you collaborate with Elizabeth Arden on this limited edition?
I was really excited by the opportunity to create this collection with Elizabeth Arden. Eight Hour is a product that is so universally loved all over the world, one that I”m very familiar with as my mother and sisters were always using it growing up, so I can’t wait to see my designs on the packaging. I’m also working with a great team, and am getting to travel with them to create murals in New York and my hometown, London.

What was your inspiration in creating the design for the Love Heals X Eight Hour Limited Edition Packaging?
I wanted to keep the design simple and fresh – I feel this is what Eight Hour represents. It was important to convey it through the packaging for this collection.

How do you use Eight Hour Cream?
The Eight Hour Cream is something my mother has always used and loved, so I’m really familiar with it. In working on this collection I have also become a fan and use it on my hands- as an artist whose primary medium is sprayed paint I’m working with my hands a lot, so it’s helpful to have it in my bag for when they’re dry or cut. The clear Lip Protectant Stick is also great for chapped lips, and the SPF is essential as I live in LA.

What message do you expect people to take away for this collection?
I take away calmness and good vibes from this collection, but I think it’s hard to predict any specific reactions to it. Realistically, this will mean something different to everyone who experiences it, but the one thing I hope it will bring to people is a little love and happiness.

Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Limited Edition with James Goldcrown

Originally created by Ms Arden, The Eight Hour Cream Protectant is just as relevant and sought after as it was when first created way back in 1930. Thanks to its renowned soothing and healing abilities the cult product is a must-have and found in the bags of models, celebs, bloggers all over the world. I’ve raved about it on countless occasions and blog post read here.

As part of the celebratory Limited Edition Collection is the Eight Hour Cream Lip Protectant Stick Sunscreen SPF15 for dry chapped lips enriched with vitamins, intensive moisturiser and SPF15.

A capsule collection is in store as from a few days ago and it’s as exciting as ever; here’s a quick glance as to what’s up for grabs:

THEBE MAGUGU describes his pieces as sophisticated and eclectic with an underlying emphasis play on proportions. His masculine shapes are created in feminine fabrics in slim silhouettes with powerful shoulder accents. The superb colour combination evokes confidence and dominance for the wearer. Thebe says his pieces are an ode to the prominent female figures in his life.

ALL THINGS BRIGHT & BEAUTIFUL: Clarins Bright Plus Range

CLARINS BRIGHT PLUS DAY LOTION AND NIGHT CREAM

Clarins Bright Plus range dropped on my desk just at the right time as my skin was feeling rather dull with dark spots becoming more noticeable on the side of my face and generally looking bleh! The change of seasons brings in extra factors like car and house heaters and I’m constantly trying to find a balance with the aircon dial in studio. (I am convinced there’s a gremlin living in the aircon as it jumps between 18 and 23 degrees throughout the day!)

I’ve actually used this range prior to writing this blog post and had forgotten how I loved it, but as an ex-beauty editor of a magazine where one is inundated with tons of products to try out and review, I moved onto the next range and forgot about this one!

Clarins Bright Plus range (reformaulated and new packaging), addresses pigmentation concerns. Ingredients like Sea lily, Alchemilla, raspberry extract, biotin, and highly stable Vitamin C all help with discolouratioin and dark spots. Daisy extract soothes and repairs skin, whilst parsley extract addresses excess fluid, (an indirect cause of hyperpigmentation).

So back to this duo. I had forgotten how I loved the smell, consistency and the general overall feeling when using Clarins products. Call me sentimental but Clarins has long been a favourite brand of mine as it was the first range I bought, a real splurge then, but my young self felt “whilst living in Paris, be French, very French”, so promptly bought the entire skin range!

Clarins Bright Plus Brightening Day Lotion SPF20 ( R775 for 75ml), is a light consistency, sinking in quickly. One pump is ample to cover face and neck area and is a perfect canvas before applying foundation. Clarins Bright Plus Brightening Revive Night Cream (R700 for 50ml), is thicker but easy to massage into face and neck and in the morning my skin looks and feels good and refreshed, with dark spots slightly lighter. It’s only been over a fortnight, so I’m hoping they fade even more, but I’ll report back to you in a few weeks time!
