Let there be light:Dermalogica Prisma Protect SPF30

The reality of living a modern lifestyle is juggling a plethora of ‘to do’ lists, so I’m on the constant lookout for multi-tasking products with active ingredients to help with cell turnover, luminosity, protection from free radicals, UV rays and pollution – in other words, the ultimate beauty cream with a broad spectrum protection SPF30; enter Dermalogica Prisma Protect SPF30 which covers all of the above and more. Here’s why I’ll be using it this summer:

Dermalogica Prisma Protect SPF30

Dermalogica Prisma Protect SPF30 uses a light- activated formula called ‘Intelligent Drone Technology’ to correct visible light into increasing skin luminosity for a natural healthy glow. so imagine, while slathering on your suncream to protect against the sun’s damaging rays, it’s also working at a deeper level to brighten your skin and promote radiance. The encapsulated active ingredients corrects your skin cells to optimise potency as well as increasing collagen production resulting in a healthy plump looking skin. Not too shabby hey!

Here’s a quick load down on some more ingredients, a habit I got into from magazine days where I’d scrutinise each ingredient, at times a daunting and scary task when one reads what we put on to our skin sometimes, but knowing Dermalogica products are gluten-free, paraben-free, vegan, fragrance-free and cruelty free it’s more of an indulged ‘need to know’ scrutiny, so here goes:

Saccharide Isomerate is a 100% natural and plant-based compound which locks in moisturise for way longer than any other humectants do.

Camellia Sinesis Leaf Extract, commonly known as green tea (and is the most researched natural ingredient,) is an anti-oxidant, UV protective and a great choice for rosacea, acne and atopic dermatitis.

Geraniol a common fragrance ingredient found in rose oil, geranium, lemon and other essential oils, so subtle as in barely there.

Propanediol is a natural alternative for the often used propylene glycol; it improves skin moisture and boosts preservation efficacy.

An oil-based soluble chemical sunscreen called Homosalate, protects against UVB rays.

Dimethicane, a silicone used for a silky smooth feeling, works at filling in fine lines and wrinkles and works as a protective barrier.

Glycerin is also found in our own skin and is a natural moisturiser.

Scalerilide or commonly known as sage, maintains an even pigmentation free skin tone.

Dermalogica comes with a unique attitude to their products where they are keen to optimise skin health and fitness; no wonder they have a cult following! I’m excited to try out Dermalogica Prisma Protect SPF30, how about you – have you tried it yet?

REVIEW: NIVEA Q10 PlusC Anti-Wrinkle + Energy Skin Sleep Cream

Nivea Q10PlusC Anti-Wrinkle + Energy Skin Sleep Cream

C THE DIFFERENCE

When I read about NIVEA Q10plusC Anti-Wrinkle + Energy Skin Sleep Cream’s high dose of Vitamin C (and at the affordable price of R169,99!) I had to try it. Despite knowing when ingested, very little Vitamin C reaches the skin, I’m still an avid vitamin popper and incorporating Vitamin C, a highly effective anti oxidant into my skincare regime seems to be the answer to maintaining healthy skin. Here’s what I thought of the star product from NIVEA’s new Q10plusC range:

NIVEA Q10plusC Anti-Wrinkle + Energy Skin Sleep Cream contains two powerful antioxidants Co-Enzyme Q10 and Vitamin C, (it doesn’t state how much Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) it contains on the packaging, but as it is one of the first top ingredients listed means it’s not too shabby), that work while your are sleeping. Beiersdorf research studies of skin cells show that this formula combination helps increase skins ability to absorb up to 50% more oxygen, which in turn stimulates energy production needed for cells to repair and regenerate.

Because we lead busy stressful lifestyles our skin tends to suffer by looking dull and tired. Sadly, as we age everything slows down including the production of collagen and Q10, a substance where your cells produce energy needed for cell growth and maintenance. So thank heaves for this super combo of anti-aging ingredients to give skin a ‘pick me up’ after a night’s sleep!

Vitamin C, an essential nutrient for overall health, applied topically increases collagen formation and reduces the effects of free radicals, helping to maintain a healthy skin. Q10, a molecule essential to energy production, supports important processes in the cells like cell regeneration to collagen synthesis. So come morning time your skin will look super rested and radiant!

I loved the lightweight cream spreading easily and absorbing quickly into my face and neck. And how cool is the aluminium tube making it super easy to squish out every last drop. It is 100% air tightpackaged, essential to potent ingredients specifically vitamin C, as it is relatively unstable and tends to degrade faster the more exposed to light and air.

The nozzle is small allowing a little amount to come out which is all you need! This should last you a month or two (I know peeps say three months but I love using products on my face and neck so it lasted me two months and at an affordable price I’ll be sure to buy it again!

Have you tried it yet? Let me know your thoughts

Happy Day
