Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Lift and Firm Sculpting Gel

Elizabeth Arden’s latest product Ceramide Lift and Firm Sculpting Gel is extra appealing as not only does is contain anti ageing properties, but comes with a roller applicator designed to lift, tone and tighten the facial contours of the face and neck.

Coincidentally my current favourite song is “Gravity” by Sarah Bareilles and I thought how apt as I sit writing about this product aimed at firming and tightening sagging skin! When skin loses elasticity, gravity makes eyebrows and eyelids droop, creates a looseness under the jaw and cheeks, (jowls and “double chin”) and lengthens ear lobes, (say whaat!) You cannot fight gravity, but luckily there are other factors you can control, especially how to protect your skin from the sun and a multitude of fabulous beauty treatments, gadgets and products!

Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Lift and Firm Sculpting Gel is packed with hydrating Hyaluronic Acid and Commiphora Mukul Extract to smooth skin and minimize lines and wrinkles, Acetyl Octapeptide-3 peptide to help plump skin; Acetyl Tripeptide-2 peptide supports collagen and elastin, Hibiscus seed extract is rich in anti oxidants, plus Ceramides 1, 3, and 6, all critical for helping skin retain water, regulate cells and help repair skin’s natural barriers.

Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Lift and Firm Sculpting Gel

How to use it:

Swivel the nozzle to ON, squeeze a little gel out before swivelling applicator to OFF. Gently massage with the roller in an upward movement on your face and neck, until the gel is dry. Using a massage roller stimulates blood circulation, promotes lifting and redefines the face contours. Use over your moisturiser day and night.

I really am enjoying using this as it’s fuss-free, non-sticky and absorbs easily into the skin. I’ve only been using it for a week, so can’t say I’ve seen any dynamic changes as yet, but I’ve included a home user consumer perception test done over 8 weeks in the US on 55 women ages between 40- 60 years old, using the Lift and Firm Sculting Gel and am hoping I see these results too!

  1. 92% of women reported that skin felt softer

  2. 90% of women reported that skin looked and felt smoother

  3. 84% of women reported that skin looked healthier and more youthful

  4. 80% of women reported that their skin and neck looked firmer

Have you tried any ofElizabeth Arden’s Ceramide products? My favourite are still the Advanced Ceramide Capsules Daily Youth Restoring Serum; so good as an on-the-go product! I wrote an earlier post on these, read here

ELIZABETH ARDEN Flawless Finish Everyday Perfection Bouncy Makeup

Elizabeth Arden Flawless Finish Everyday Perfection Bouncy Makeup

From Left to Right: BARE (04), NEUTRAL BEIGE (06) & GOLDEN CARAMEL (11)

When Elizabeth Arden Flawless Finish Everyday Perfection Bouncy Makeup first dropped, I thought I’d slide the compacts to one side once I had read the press release as I tend to steer clear from using too many powders, as I feel it’s often unnecessary to wear as I have dry skin, yet these are not powders, but a combination of a cream and powder in a gel-like consistency.

Curiosity got the better of me so immediately popped some on my face; the texture is unusual, not quite dry & not quite wet and, as the name states ‘bouncy’, like set jelly, with a slight sheen to it. I love working a product into my skin, blending & massaging with my fingertips (there’s nothing worse than a tell-tale foundation line under the jawline), but it was easier to use the sponge to blend it. Although I still think they are closer to a powder than a foundation, I’ve grown rather attached to using them as they are lightweight, don’t clog my pores, long lasting and it still feels like my skin can breathe.

So how does it work? The formulation contains a network of polymers which mimics skin’s natural movement, designed to ‘move’ with your facial expressions, so it doesn’t sit in fine lines and wrinkles.

lawless Finish Everyday Perfection Bouncy Makeup

Caffeine, Ginseng, Peppermint would certainly put a spring in my step so naturally these combined ingredients will wake up your senses and skin while giving all day coverage. There’s a choice of 14 shades, (I’ve been using Bare 04 & incorporate Neutral Beige 06 in for a bit more colour, especially during winter because I’m paler than pale!) I’ve started wearing more blush of late, as a rosy flushed glow is what I’m after as the older I get the more colour I’m needing to look fresh and alert, but more about blushers in my next post…!

Ingredients include Hyaluronic acid, Apple, Watermelon and Lentil extracts, great for hydration, whilst Wu Zu boosts radiance. Vitamin C, D, E, Ceramides and Mushroom Extract all help support natural collagen and minimize fine lines and wrinkles.

A 3D Gel Network seals pigments, essential oils and antioxidants to the skin while blurring and brightening imperfections. See why Flawless Finish Everyday Perfection Bouncy Makeup are so lovely?

Elizabeth Arden Flawless Finish Everyday Perfection Bouncy Makeup

I rounded up a few of my favourite products I tried out over the last month, from a luscious new lip balm to a firm favourite face mask, I’ve got you covered!

A sumptuous body lotion fragranced with Alien’s signature scent enveloping you in wafts of jasmin sambac, cashmeran wood and white amber notes (R775 for 200ml)

A decidedly decadent and luxurious leave on mask I adore as skin looks supple, radiant and ready for a new day! Also fabulous to apply before embarking on a flight to keep skin hydrated and fresh.

Let’s give a round of applause for Elizabeth Arden’s Standing Ovation Mascara! As part of Elizabeth Arden Drama Defined Colour Collection, you can expect nothing less than bigger and bolder lashes. Mascara is something I rarely go without as I find it creates a vast improvement between looking pale and washed out to looking passable. The brush size and shape is great for easy application. I coat the entire top lashes before applying a second coat where the focus is on the middle to outer edge of lashes to help enlarge eyes. (R370) shop here

I stick to warm darker lipsticks during winter and this plum burgundy shade is brilliant to add some life to my pale pallor!

Celeb hairstylist David Gillson recommended these hair masks and I thought they all worked well for my hair. Each sachet contains 1-3 applications, depending on hair length & thickness; (I got out two applications per sachet as my hair is thick).

Not only are these travel friendly but all Davines products are free from parabens and sulphates and are vegan friendly.

CRABTREE & EVELYN Lavender & espresso calming body lotion

HIGH BROW: Three fab eyebrow defining products

sisley bobbi brown

I have really light eyebrows and in summer they go even blonder, so I am a fan of darkening my brows and yip, my other half baulks when I overdo it saying “has Groucho Marx come to town?”. I generally pounce on any brow pencils, gels or mascaras, so was really excited with these newbies from Sisley and Elizabeth Arden. I’ve included a Bobbi Brown as it’s been a firm favourite of mine and well worth a mention too!

SISLEY PARIS Phyto Sourcils Design 3-in-1 Brow Architect Pencil (R725)
A multi-purpose 3-in-1 pencil that shapes, fills in and redefines eyebrows with a built-in highlighter.
I love the angled tip of colour which makes for easy application. This shade is called Brun, which is buildable for a natural to a more intense colour. The other two shades are called Cappuccino and Chatain (lighter than this shade). Acacia wax and Camelia oil are added for softening properties. The other side is a spoolie brush for keeping brows in shape and a twist off to apply the highlighter under the eyebrow to open up the eye area. Smart hey! Check the video below.

Elizabeth Arden Statement Brow Gel

ELIZABETH ARDEN STATEMENT BROW Brow Gel, in Brown (R285) I like mixing this up with my Sisley pencil as it gives a slightly lighter brown making the colour not too solid; if it does look too heavy, you can whip it off and start again! The brow gel grooms, fills, shapes and defines eyebrows, is smudge proof and as I said I like to use this in conjunction with my Sisley pencil as it holds my brows up (they tend to ‘fall down’ if I don’t use a gel). Ophthalmologist and dermatologist tested.

Bobbi Brown Natural Brow Shaper & hair Touch Up

BOBBI BROWN Natural Brow Shaper & Hair Touch-up (599)
This has been a staple in my bag forever, in fact it’s probably the fourth if not the fifth time I have bought it, I love it so much! It’s creamy gel formula glides on leaving a great colour; I use Mahogany #3 shade, defining and shaping brows perfectly. I often wonder why they come in such small tubes, but at least there isn’t a chance of them drying out!

BEHIND THE MASK: Prevage City Smart Double Action Detox Peel Off Mask

Prevage Elizabeth Arden City Detox mask

Prevage City Smart Double Action Detox Peel Off Mask is something I have been dying to try out since it first launched a few months back and am really impressed with the results!

You may think we’re whipping up a breakfast smoothie with the mention of goji, cranberries, and blueberries, but these are some of the ingredients found in the mask; add Idebenone and Thiotaine, and you’ve got a super concoction of powerful antioxidants to fight against skin damaging free radicals.

Prevage City Smart Double Action Detoxing Peel Off Mask acts like a liquid magnet removing impurities whilst resurfacing skin and enhancing it’s natural detoxification system. It’s super easy to apply over your entire face and neck, just avoid the sensitive eye area. I applied a generous amount creating a thick layer and waited twenty minutes before lifting it off from the sides towards my nose; its a gel formula so it’s easy to manipulate and pull off. Tree mushroom extract has astringent properties to help minimize visible pores, whilst a smart Polymer blend resurfaces skin lifting away impurities, so when you peel the off mask you experience a brighter, renewed and fresh skin as oils, pollutants, and grime have been removed.

Just a heads up if you’ve had laser resurfacing, dermabrasion or deep chemical peels wait a week before trying out any Prevage products as you may experience a skin reaction.

So it’s all very well for me saying yay, I love, but what do the studies reveal?

95% agreed to skin looked clearer after just one application

93% agreed their pores were visibly reduced after two weeks

93% saw a brighter complexion after just two weeks

Available at Truworths, Foschini, Red Square and Woolworths

REVIEW: June Beauty Products

I tested out a few new products

1 Elizabeth Arden Advanced Ceramide Capsules

2 Eucerin Urea Repair Plus Replenishing Body Wash

3 Milk Solutions Milk & Honey Hand & Elbow Balm

4 Rimmel Oh My Gloss!Oil Tints

5 Maybelline The Blushed Nudes Palette

1.Elizabeth Arden Advanced Ceramide Daily Youth Restoring Serum Capsules

Each capsule is filled with super anti-ageing ingredients like fatty acids, lipids and cholesterol which work together to fortify the skin’s barrier for healthy rejuvenated skin; that’s something I sure am looking for at my age! By the time you hit your 30s, skin’s ceramide levels have dropped dramatically, never mind when you hit your 40s where more than 60% of your skin’s ceramides have disappeared, meaning your skin appears even drier and duller with a loss of firmness. These babies help retexturise, revitalise, diminish fine lines and wrinkles and improve skin tone. Best used before your moisturiser, but if you’re a junkie for serums like me I pop them into my makeup bag and use throughout the day for an added surge of moisture. If I’m wearing foundation, I gently pat into skin avoiding the eye area as I don’t want my eyes to water and mascara to shift.

(90 capsules R995; 60 capsules R825)

2.Eucerin Urea Repair Plus Replenishing Body Wash

I was really chuffed to try out this body wash as Eucerin is a brand I’ve always loved using from their Hyaluron filler creams, to their suncreams and Aquaphor Soothing Skin Balm (a multi-tasking product I keep in my kitchen for burns, scratches and itches!) I’m really lucky in that I don’t have any major skin concerns apart from dryness, so using this in the shower helps keep skin really soft and nourished, thanks to the Urea and lactate which prevents skin from drying out. It’s free of colourants, perfume and soap so perfect for peeps who suffer from ezcema, psoriasis, dry skin and it’s suitable for kids too.

(R189 for 400ml)

3. Milk Solutions Milk & Honey Hand & Elbow Balm

Just what the doctor ordered for these wintery days to keep hands well nourished! With cold mornings and the use of heaters, one really needs to keep moisturised so this is a great product to use throughout the day. A perfect 50ml size to pop into your bag.

( the hand cream is part of a starter mini kit R215)

Rimmel Oh My Gloss Oil Tints and Maybelline The Blushed Nudes

4.Rimmel Oh My Gloss! Oil Tints

Non-sticky with a subtle and yummy taste, they’re ideal for a wash of colour for everyday wea when one doesn’t feel like applying a lipstick. I had to include all the colours sent to me as I love them all! From top to bottom:

Contemporary Coral

Master Pink

Smart Pink

Modern Pink

Pop Poppy

(R79,95 each)

5.Maybelline The Blushed Nudes Palette

A cool palette of champagne pinks infused in rose gold pigments. I love this palette for everyday wear but find one really needs to build up the colours as the shadows aren’t as pigmented as I had hoped, but are still lovely to use! There’s a slight shimmer to them, well-priced and an awesome combination of colours, don’t you think?
