LANVIN Eclat de Nuit EDP

With temperatures rising the past two days, it feels like winter has finally made way for spring and on that note I’ve been cleaning out my beauty cupboard and stumbled across some fragrances I haven’t blogged about. So, in anticipation of spring, I’m reviewing some lovelies with a few giveaways in between! First up Lanvin Eclat de Nuit EDP which launched last year:

LANVIN Eclat de Nuit EDP fragrance

Lanvin is one of the oldest French fashion houses still in operation with a young designer,

Bruno Sialelli stepping in to breathe new life into the iconic fashion brand; (read here on founder Jeanne Lanvin). Known for classic femininity and strength in the fashion world, Lanvin’s perfumes are also legendary like editions of Eclat d’Arpège that forever stay in fashion; Lanvin created Eclat de Nuit, a perfume that captures the excitement of hot sultry summer nights.

“Perfume is an essential accessory on a woman’s dressing table” – Jeanne Lanvin

Zesty lemon, crispy apple and sparkling blackcurrant open the fragrance and develop into a floral heart dominated by ‘Belle de Nuit’ flower combined with white jasmine, freesia and orange blossom. The base is sweet and warm, thanks to praline, vanilla and sandalwood. Perfumer Fabrice Pellegrin wanted to emphasise femininity and touch on sensuality.

LANVIN Eclat de Nuit EDP fragrance

Shaped like the previous editions, Lanvin perfume glass bottle represents the flower in full bloom with an intense pink colour. A silver lid is topped with a crystal under which two rings are entwined, a symbol of a connection of two people. It comes in a Plexiglas outer box which goes hand in hadn’t to compliment the bottle shade.

LANVIN Eclat de Nuit EDP fragrance

With just enough warm base notes to keep the fruity-floriental combo balanced this is the perfect fragrance for spring/summer days. Think fresh, bright and will definitely put a spring in your step!

Lanvin Eclat de Nuit EDP is available in 30ml,50ml, 100ml from Dischem

That’s it for today – can you believe it is already Thursday?! Happy sunshiny day!

Fragrance Review: Acqua di Parma Colonia Eau de Cologne

Acqua di Parma Colonia Eau de Cologne

Unisex fragrance Acqua di Parma Colonia Eau de Cologne is so appealing I decided to grab it for myself, (sorry hubby); it smells delish on him too, but keeping a fresh citrusy scent in my bag to use throughout the day certainly lift my spirits!

Italian city Parma is steeped in history and where Colonia was first created to fragrance gentlemen’s handkerchiefs; elegant, timeless and refreshing, it became an instant success and well loved by celebrities like Cary Grant, Ava Gardner and Audrey Hepburn. From humble beginnings, Acqui di Parma went on to become a prominent house name and remains a timeless classic. The idea behind the creation of the original Colonia was to offer something crisp, subtle and utterly refreshing and that it certainly is!

Acqua di Parma Colonia Eau de Cologne

Intense Sicilian lemon, bergamot and bittersweet oranges are found in the top notes of Acqua di Parma Colonia Eau de Cologne, unfolding to a heart of Bulgarian rose and lavender, before settling down with warm woody notes of vetiver (one of my favourites), sandalwood and patchouli – a formula that hasn’t changed, to this day!

Acqua di Parma Colonia Eau de Cologne

The bottle is sleek and modern in the art deco style of clean lines and the yellow packaging takes its inspiration from the city’s buildings with facades in a shade of ‘Parma Yellow’.

If a fresh uplifting scent is what you’re after, (for you and or your partner), this one’s a winner for day and night time wear!

Let me know if you’ve tried it out and what you think of it?

I’m completely obsessed with anything relating to CHANEL, so when the latest fragrance

landed in my hands I held on to the bottle oh so tight! CHANEL Chance Eau Tendre EDP fragrance is a gentle interpretation of the original and one I adore; read more here….

“It comes and goes, it never stays put… and you only have a few seconds to seize your chance. It is unpredictable and appears when you least expect it, but if you decide to seize it, anything is possible. “A chance came up, I seized it.” Mademoiselle Chanel knew that her real chance was the one of her own creation, a state of mind, a way of being”.

On first spray one can smell the citrus notes of grapefruit, before jasmine and rose essence waft through; the base note is white musk which balances the scent, creating a fruity flowery delightful composition.

This is a wonderful fresh fragrance suitable for everyday wear. I had the original CHANEL Chance Eau Tendre EDT when it came on the market a few years back , but this one is lovely indeed as it is more intense and lasts longer on your skin. Tres romantic, elegant and intoxicating. LOVE!!

I’ve worn CHANEL Chance Eau Tendre EDP everyday this past week as CHANEL has been on my mind, what with Karl Lagerfeld’s passing. As one of the most acclaimed fashion designers of the century, he will be sorely missed.

FRAGRANCE FILE: Zadig & Voltaire: Girls Can Do Anything EDP

Zadig & Voltaire Girls Can Do Anything EDP

While driving through Clanwilliam a couple of years back, the scent of orange blossoms filled the early morning air and as one of the top notes in Zadig & Voltaire’s Girls Can Do Anything fragrance, I thought it sounded tres appealing!

Yes, the Ads and captions aspire to a younger generation, but I’m a firm believer when it comes to fragrances, we’re open to loving whatever the heart desires!

Zadig & Voltaire Girls Can Do Anything EDP

Zadig & Voltaire roots go back to 1997 when trendsetter Thierry Gillier created the French brand capturing a chic, casual spirit. ‘Zadig style is eternally young. A way of being. Rock at heart. Art as inspirations. Paris as heritage.’ I like that.

Zadig & Voltaire Girls Can Do Anything EDP

Girls Can Do Anything opens with zesty citrusy notes and delicate pear with middle notes of tonka beans, rounding off with musk, vanilla, fern and warm woody ambroxan at the base.

A light and fresh scent that’s perfect for these hot summer days! Have you tried it – your thoughts?

Coco Mademoiselle Intense EDP is the latest addition to the Coco Mademoiselle fragrances, where Chanel’s house perfumer, Olivier Polge, (son of Jacques Polge, the nose behind the original Mademoiselle), masters a more intensified facet to the Coco Mademoiselle personality. By amplifying notes of earthy Patchouli infused with a warm woody Amber accord, Polge remains true to the original, asserting a more sensual sophisticated composition.

We were treated to an early preview of Coco Mademoiselle Intense EDP and I’ve been loving it ever since, as the joy of spritzing Chanel fragrances is the immediate immersion into the top notes, sans that alcohol whiff sometimes experienced with scents. Sicilian Orange and Calabrian Bergamot dominate the top notes intertwined by rose and jasmine at its heart; Tonka bean, Madagascar Vanilla and Patchouli sit at the base, creating an irresistibly bold and voluptuous scent.

Kiera Knightley, synonymous to Coco Mademoiselle fragrance for the past ten years, remains the face for Coco Mademoiselle. Click on clip below to see her latest ad!

Coco Mademoiselle Intense EDP went on sale worldwide last week and is available at all Chanel counters countrywide.

Available in 50ml EDP & 100ml EDP

I’m somewhat biased when it comes to DKNY fragrances as their fresh crispy notes appeal to my senses, so when DKNY Nectar Love dropped late last year, I was thrilled to see this was just as delish as the others. Okay, it’s not the iconic apple shaped perfume bottle I’ve collected over the years, but a sleek new silhouette, paying tribute to the honeybee. To mark the start of a New Year, I have a fabulous NECTAR LOVE ATTRACTION gift set to GIVEAWAY, consisting of a 50ml EDP Nectar Love fragrance and a 100ml Irresistible Shower Gel. Read more on what I thought of the lovely scent and how to stand a chance of winning this duo:

The scent is called a fruity floral gourmand; grapefruit, mandarin, nectarine and yellow freesia in the top notes, with jasmine, lily of the valley and Mirabelle florals sitting in the heart. Base notes include beeswax, cedar and vanilla mixed with musk and neroli.

On first spray, a flurry of sweet notes envelop your senses, settling down into a warm sensuous experience. Vanilla is one of my favourite notes which is easily identifiable. The key ingredient is a distinct fusion of beeswax and seductive neroli adding a subtle hint of golden elixir at its base.

Bees play a critical part in the global food chain. Worldwide these intelligent insects are under huge threat, with pesticides, disease and loss of habitat playing a major role in wiping them out. Did you know bees are responsible as pollinators to two thirds of the world’s food crop, so without them to pollinate flowers to supply essential oils in the perfume industry, the bee situation is rather worrying. “Bees are intricately connected to nature as Nectar Love. Without one, the other could not exist”. The bee is a symbol of nature and DKNY has used a graphic embossed bee on their bottle. How cute is that!

DKNY Nectar Love is a summery scent I’d wear throughout the day and for early evening drinks, as it’s light, fresh and an irresistible fragrance.

I love TV commercials and BTS, so I’m sharing this 30 second clip of DKNY Nectar Love shot on the streets of the Big Apple.

So are you ready to enter my GIVEAWAY? Here’s what to do:

FRAGRANCE FILE: Chanel Gabrielle Eau de Parfum

coco chanel gabrielle

If there’s one legendary woman who stands out for me, it’s Chanel, not only for her incredible journey from humble beginnings to creating an empire, but for her independent and strong personality; she was passionate, free spirited and a rebel at heart. This is the interpretation of Chanel Gabrielle, the first fragrance Chanel has created in fifteen years.

“We were exploring this whole moment of before Coco – who she really was at the core and that’s what we wanted to express in this new fragrance,” says Christine Dagousset, global president of fragrance and beauty at Chanel.

coco chanel gabrielle

Perfumer Olivier Polge created an imaginary white flower appealing to a carefree, flirty younger generation. Top citrusy notes sparkle with a dash of blackcurrant, exotic Jasmine, heady Orange Blossom, vibrant Ylang Ylang and creamier sweeter Grasse Tuberose make for a richer floral heart bouquet and warm Sandalwood and Musk keep it grounded for an elegant and sophisticated mix.

coc chanel gabrielle

On first spray I experienced the rush of intense sweet blackcurrant and citrusy notes that settled into a complex and rich floral surprise. I’m inclined to like lighter floral notes so this appealed to my senses almost immediately, settling down into woody base notes; (sandalwood is one of my favourites as it feels warm and contained!) I could wear this as an everyday perfume as it’s light and after all, wearing anything Chanel automatically makes one feel sensual, brave and cool, don’t you agree? A timeless and classic brand.

coco chanel gabrielle

The bottle is rather exceptional with thin linear lines making it light and transparent, as if suspended in space; facets throw off light reflections of a golden shade, synonymous with the sunny disposition of the character of the fragrance. The bottle is designed by Sylvie Legastelois, who wanted the bottle to be jewel-like, yet kept simple and in line with the classic bottle.

The face of the campaign is Kirsten Stewart shot by director Ringan Ledwidge and print ad shot by Karim Sadli. Take a peek at the commercial below:

“Jimmy Choo L’eau is the scented interpretation of a delicious thirst quenching water of hibiscus flowers blended with barks, fruits and vibrant woods, to create a radiant feminine sensuality.” – Juliette Karagueuzoglou, Perfumer

If springtime could be bottled it would smell like this: fresh, fruity and floral! Jimmy Choo’s latest fragrance L’Eau is a concoction of citrusy sparkling top notes of Bergamot and hibiscus flowers; juicy nectarine and a delicate whiff of peony lie at the heart and at the dry-down is sensual cedarwood and powdery musk. I am so ready to move on from the cold winter days and smelling this reminded me a new season is just around the corner! Hues of dusty pinks, peaches, pastels and chambray denim form part of our spring/summer fashion palette, and I think this fragrance fits into that mix beautifully. “The immediate evocation of a fresh and delicate journey: Jimmy Choo L’Eau is a delicate breath, a soft caress on the skin.”

Here’s a peek at Jimmy Choo L’Eau commercial; my heart did a little hop skip and a jump when I saw the sleek silver roller skates the model wears – LOVE them, in fact, I once contemplated taking up roller derby just to wear pink rollerskates!

BUT let’s get onto the serious stuff! Want to win a bottle of this juice? Scroll down for more info:

FRAGRANCE REVIEW: Ted Lapidus Orissima

Ted Lapidus Orissima perfume

“I conceived the fragrance as an ode to The Parisian Woman. The idea was to point a multi-faceted woman through the senses” – Perfumer Alexandra Monet

Ted Lapidus Orissimo Fragrance

Ted Lapidus Orissimo fragrance celebrates The Parisian, (and in my heart, I so wish I was one of those stylishly chic French women who eat what they want, dress impeccably while juggling motherhood, worker and entertaining almost effortlessly and they Palez-vous francais!) Dream on girl!

Ted Lapidus has been in the French fashion industry for many years, but as I have never tried any of his fragrances before, I was keen to read up on his background and of course try out his latest fragrance Orissima. Ted Lapidus is credited to bringing denim into mainstream fashion as well as making it wearable and sexy; introducing safari and military looks to haute couture and considered the pioneer to unisex fashion!

Ted Lapidus Orissimo Fragrance

Ted Lapidus Orissimo fragrance is a chypre floral gourmand consisting of delightful and delicious fruity and floral notes of grapefruit, peach, orange blossom, peony, iris, patchouli, caramel and musk. The bottle represents the city architecture to symbolise the many faces of a Parisian women.

Gentle fruity and floral first notes settle into a powdery down with caramel being a recognisable base note combined with musk. An ode to sophistication and elegance, I’m so glad I got to try out this scent (and the price point is really attractive too!) A charming and attractive aroma, one I would certainly wear day and night!
