(REVIEW): Elizabeth Arden Retinol Ceramide Capsules Line Erasing Night Serum

ELIZABETH ARDEN RETINOL CERAMIDE CAPSULES

Elizabeth Arden Retinol Ceramide Capsules Line-Erasing Night Serum

When Elizabeth Arden’s Advanced Ceramide Capsules Daily Youth Restoring Serum launched years back, I thought they were the bee’s knees as the non-greasy capsules were lightweight, silky smooth, super hydrating and convenient for travelling as they take up zero space! Fast forward to Elizabeth Arden Retinol Ceramide Capsules Line-Erasing Night Serum containing Retinol and Ceramides for moisture and we have a winning duo for a fab skincare routine; here’s why I’m loving Elizabeth Arden’s capsule newbies:

Elizabeth Arden Retinol Ceramide Capsules Line-Erasing Night Serum

Retinol is a renowned ingredient in the beauty industry as it tackles the majority of skin concerns like pigmentation, sun damage, dullness, acne and enlarged pores. Retinol stimulates elasticity and flexibility, speeds up cell turnover, exfoliates the surface of the skin which in turn encourages a healthy glow for an even skin tone and most importantly, Retinol is a clinically proven wrinkle smoother.

If used incorrectly, Retinol can lead to dryness, irritation and redness but Elizabeth Arden Retinol Ceramide Capsules Line-Erasing Night Serum has combined the sensitive Retinol molecule with Ceramides to maintain a moisture balance to prevent the drying effect of Retinol.

Why in capsule form?

Clinical tests have shown that the dose of Retinol remains 76% more potent in capsules than tubs of creams plus the shelf life is extended. Encapsulated delivers the perfect amount of Retinol with no chance of bacteria or contamination happening and best of all, the capsules are made from algae so are safe for the environment.

The capsules feel luxurious, lightweight and silky and are single use. After cleansing, twist the cap off and apply over the entire face and neck area, (there’s enough in the capsule!) before your moisturiser. Remember to use a high SPF if using the serum in the morning, in fact applying suncream every single day is the best advice! Personally I only used the Elizabeth Arden Retinol Ceramide Capsules Line-Erasing Night Serum at night and a different serum in the morning (the Ceramide Daily Youth Restoring capsules would be the next best thing!)

ZAR565 for 30 capsules and ZAR965 for 60 capsules

Have you tried these out and what are your thoughts?

That is it for a Monday morning – I hope your week is just fantabulous!!

NIVEA HYALURON CELLULAR FILLER: REVIEW

NIVEA Hyaluron Cellular Filler

Formerly known as Cellular Anti-Age, NIVEA has renamed and re-packaged their anti-ageing range to Hyaluron Cellular Filler consisting of a day cream, night cream, serum and an eye cream. If you, like me, have been led to believe that the more money one spends on a beauty product the more beneficial it will be, think again; NIVEA’s scientifically-proven formulation contains 3 key ingredients to fight ageing skin concerns and is available at a fab price point! Here’s why I love this range:

NIVEA Hyaluron Cellular Filler

NIVEA Hyaluron Cellular Filler products contain hyaluronic acid, Magnolia Extract and Creatin. Found naturally in your body, hyaluronic acid has an amazing ability to deliver lasting moisture as it can hold up to 1000 times its weight in water. Because it occurs naturally in the skin there is very little chance of causing irritation or an allergic reaction. With age our skin loses its suppleness and hyaluronic acid helps turn back the clock by rejuvenating your skin, improving its protective barrier, supporting its healing and repairing ability, and provides a defence to fight UV damage (as free radicals can break down elastin and collagen). When skin is hydrated, fine lines and wrinkles are less noticeable so always look for a product that contains this marvellous ingredient!

Magnolia extract also has anti-oxidant and anti-bacterial properties, helping to neutralise free radicals and decelerate the aging process. Creatine plays an important role in supplying energy to nerve cells and skeletal muscle (that’s why bodybuilders like to add it to their diet) but cosmetically speaking Creatine helps improve skin cell turnover, increase elasticity and treats hyper-pigmentation. NIVEA Cellular Anti-Age Skin Rejuvenation Day Cream ZAR250

This helps to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, increase firmness and improve skin renewal thanks to the aforementioned ingredients. The formula sinks in easily, is non-greasy and leaves my skin feeling hydrated and smooth. The added SPF15 protects skin from UV-induced ageing, dark spots and cell damage which is a plus for me as I have pigmentation on the side of my face. I’d layer a higher SPF over this if you spend lots of time outdoors, but as I’m in studio most days I find it is enough for winter (hurry up, warm summer days!)

NIVEA Hyaluron Cellular Filler Anti-Age Eye Cream ZAR250

I am not the greatest at always including eye creams into my beauty routine, but as this one is ophthalmologically tested it’s safe to use on my sensitive eyes. It has definitely helped to improve the delicate under-eye area by brightening and moisturising nicely.

NIVEA Hyaluron Cellular Filler Anti-Age Serum

NIVEA Hyaluron Cellular Filler Anti-Age Serum ZAR250

I love, love, love serums. This one comes in a pump dispenser which preserves the active ingredients and gives an even-metered dose of serum. Serums have a thinner consistency and a more potent concentration of ingredients so I find two pumps is ample to cover my face and neck area before applying a day or night cream. This is an added bonus of tackling skin concerns like fine lines and wrinkles, sagging skin, pigmentation, redness and inflammation. As one ages I’m always on the look-out for products that give radiance, brightness and smoothness and I saw an improvement after ten days with a brighter looking skin!

NIVEA Hyaluron Cellular Filler Anti-Age Night Cream

NIVEA Hyaluron Cellular Filler Night Cream ZAR250

I usually experience a day or two of skin bumps when trying out products too rich in anti-ageing ingredients, but this one felt great and I had no break-outs. The scientific formulation works well to stimulate collagen and elastin, repairing skin for a youthful appearance and upon waking it gives you a touch of radiance and brightness, something I hanker after!

Have you tried out this range yet and what do you think? It’s available from Clicks, and if you hurry there’s one more day of the special where you can buy any 3 selected Nivea Face Care Products and get the cheapest free. Selected stores only. Valid until 22 August 2018″

Happy Tuesday!

BEAUTY EMPTIES MINI REVIEWS FOR JULY

INDOLA LEAVE IN/RINSE TREATMENT MASK, MORGAN TAYLOR DAILY ELIXIR, GIRLZ ONLY DRY SHAMPOO, EARTHSAP DEODORANT, REVLON LIPSTICK

I’ve rounded up a few of my favourite beauty products for an EMPTIES post, products that have sadly come to an end; they include EARTHSAP Natural Deodorant, INDOLA Color Leave-in/Rinse-Off Treatment Mask, Girlz Only Dry Shampoo, Revlon Ultra HD Gel Color Lipstick and MORGAN TAYLOR Daily Elixir Keratin Nail Treatment: here’s what I thought:

INDOLA COLOR Leave-In/Rinse Off Treatment Mask

I’m a fan of trying just about any type of hair product that will help tame my unruly coloured hair and despite trying to use fewer products containing alcohol as it dries out my hair, it is not always easy to find alcohol-free products. Alcohol is added to hair products to thicken them, keep them from foaming and act as a preservative for longer lasting. So yes, INDOLA COLOR Leave-In/Rinse Off Treatment Mask contains alcohol, but it did more good than drying out my hair so I would buy this again. After shampooing and conditioning, I added about a tablespoon of product, (surprisingly you don’t need much as it goes a long way) and combed it through towel dried hair. Once a fortnight I left it in and styled as it didn’t leave my hair feeling heavy but soft and manageable. Every second wash I left it on for about ten minutes as a mask, before rinsing out. The smell makes me think of marshmallows.

GIRLZ ONLY Dry Shampoo Party Nights

Dry shampoo has changed my life! When I was young, we used baby powder to eke out one extra day of going without washing our hair (teenage hormones and playing sport saw me washing my hair nearly every day), but yay for dry shampoo, especially now when one has to consider water restrictions. I like this one as it doesn’t leave residue and of course who doesn’t love pink packaging! There’s a couple in the GIRLZ ONLY range and they all work well.

Available from DISCHEM R79,95 for 400ml

REVLON ULTRA HD GEL LIPCOLOR

An angled tip for easy application, gliding on effortlessly with no ‘pull’, is lightweight and the colour pigment is fab! Sometimes I find wearing lipstick creates drier lips where I need to constantly re-apply, but a creamy formula of the gel colour has hyaluronic acid for extra moisture.I adored this Revlon shade, ‘DAWN’, a sliver of sunshiny pink for days when I didn’t want to wear a bright lippie.

MORGAN TAYLOR Daily Keratin Nail Treatment

This lasted absolutely forever and I am sad it has come to an end as it was a superb treatment for nails. I’m normally a ‘gelish’ girl, but for the last couple of months have gone back to nail polish as it’s so cool to change colours, (I get bored of my gelish colour and land up applying another colour for a week before getting re-done). Nails get a bit of a beating wearing constant nail-polish and gelish, tending to split and flake so the keratin helps for stronger nails. I’m going to look for some other Morgan Taylor products as there’s no shortage of nail treatments!

EARTHSAP DEODORANT Wild Rose & Vanilla

When I worked as a magazine Beauty Editor, testing and trying out products was exciting, being in the know of cutting edge technology beauty procedures and products; trying out beauty products can be quite daunting as there’s no shortage and sticking to specific ingredients or airtight containers is what I’d like to be doing more of, but for now, as a blogger, I love testing out products that offer something exciting, has anti-aging ingredients, or is a local brand etc. One thing I am vigilant about is using only roll on organic deodorants, free from aluminium. With a light fresh natural fragrance, IS non-sticky & non- gunky deodorant that doesn’t leave a residue on my clothes, EARTHSAP Wild Rose & Vanilla Deodorant is worth buying again R59.
