santa shoebox project

The malls are heavily laden with decorations and Christmas carols are merrily playing; reminders that Christmas is a mere 21 days away! A few weekends ago we went to help wrap presents for Santa Shoebox and I was fortunate to interview this incredible lady Debbie Zelezniak, Chief Operating Manager for the Santa Shoebox Project. She says, “If you missed the cut-off date for wrapping a shoebox or two, consider donating here.” Read on for more insight on this amazing cause.

Debbie Zelezniak, Chief Operating Manager for Santa Shoebox Project

From humble beginnings of 180 shoeboxes, The Santa Shoebox Project has grown over the last 11 years with the number of donated Santa Shoeboxes up to a total of 652 180! The shoeboxes are distributed to more than 1000 recipient facilities each year, through more than 60 satellites around South Africa and Namibia. The success of the project can largely be attributed to its personal nature, where donors give gifts to children whose names, ages and genders are known. The project is supported by a vast network of kind-hearted volunteers across South Africa and Namibia. It relies on the generous backing of various corporate sponsors pledging monetary or pro bono support. Many companies, involving their staff members pledge Santa Shoeboxes as part of their Corporate Social Investment programmes.

SKIRTING THE ISSUE: This season’s must have denim

I’m a jeans and Tee girl at heart, but I do like to incorporate a dress or skirt every now and then, pairing with stockings and boots during winter or come summer, I’ll wear sneakers or sandals for a lighter feel! I own a short light blue denim skirt and this midi above; it’s a great length to wear for a casual daywear with sneakers and a striped Tee! See how some celebs are wearing this summer’s ‘must-have’ skirt and below is a selection of denim skirts in store or online now:

Alexa Chung always manages to look stylish no matter what she wears – love the suede coat thrown over her short denim skirt

Emma Roberts teams a leather jacket with her button down denim skirt and burgundy velvet ankle boots = FAB!

Bella Hadid works denim on denim ( a trend not going anywhere yet)

Rihanna pairs nude heels with her denim skirt – HOT!
